WHAT IS THE MEASURE OF A CHAMPION?

If like us, you’ve been glued to the tennis these last couple of weeks, we’ve seen some incredible examples of endurance, resilience, mental toughness and pure genius. Tennis Australia did an amazing job to get the event up and running so that we could be entertained, something we didn’t realise we needed until we did! We’ve drawn inspiration from these players, role models and icons and can’t wait kick off this year.

So what is the measure of a champion?

In our view, it’s not the titles accumulated, as impressive as a Golden slam and three time winner of a grand slam may be! In our mind, it’s how you conduct yourself as a person and Ash Barty could not have said it any better herself; "It's more important to be a good person than a good tennis player” which was echoed by Dylan Alcott “being a good person is No.1. A good family member, a good friend and a good partner and being a good advocate for my community to change perceptions for people like me, so they can live the lives they deserve to live and get the opportunities that I’ve had.” Rafa also showed incredible resilience and tenacity as he problem-solved his way out of a match where he was two sets down after recently recovering from Covid and other injuries in 2021.

After returning from our holiday overseas, what was really apparent to us was that in Australia, we’re far too preocupied with covid. This year, we’re going to focus on reconnecting, celebrating the good and enjoying happy times with our tribe which in turn will invigorate us to achieve more in 2022. Looking forward to a great year ahead!
